Audition Requirements FOR NEW STUDENTS

String musicians (violin, viola, cello, and bass) from ages 11-18 are invited to audition for a Con Brio ensemble. Whether you want to supplement your school or youth orchestra music experience or enjoy your first ensemble, Con Brio provides the opportunity to build a musical community, collaborate with other musicians, and perform frequently all while learning great chamber orchestra repertoire.

The audition deadline is July 15, 2026.

STEPS FOR NEW STUDENTS

  • Prepare a solo of your choice that is a minimum of 3 minutes. Once you are ready, record yourself performing with or without piano accompaniment. Set your recording device at least six feet away from you and in landscape mode so we can see you and your instrument well. Using your phone or iPad is fine - no special mic is necessary! Reach out with any questions.

  • Submit the application form, audition video, and the $25 audition fee.

    Links will be posted very soon.

    Upload your video to YouTube under the “unlisted” privacy settings. The video’s title should be in the following format: Con Brio_FirstName_LastName_PieceTitle. Copy your “share” link and paste the URL link into the form.

  • Applicants will be notified no later than July 25th and will be placed according to ensemble needs and openings.

  • For those accepted, we'll send you a Welcome Packet with everything you need to know including a detailed schedule, rehearsal and performance locations, and tuition. A deadline to accept your invitation to join will be provided at that time.

Audition Requirements FOR RETURNING STUDENTS

Returning students do not need to audition. We know your playing! You will be emailed an “Intent to Enroll for the 2026-2027” letter which you can accept or decline. This helps us plan how many spots we have open in the ensemble for next season.

The Intent to Enroll deadline is June 30, 2026.

  • Once you get your “intent to enroll for the 2026-2027 season” email, you will accept of decline by the June 30, 2026 deadline.

  • For returning students, we'll send you a Welcome Packet with everything you need to know including a detailed schedule, rehearsal and performance locations, and tuition.
